During a 2017 visit to London’s Royal Academy of Arts, I was captivated by John William Waterhouse’s The Magic Circle. The painting’s mystical aura, deep colors, and portrayal of a powerful, spiritual woman inspired me—standing in stark contrast to historical misogynistic witch trials. I wanted to capture that positive image in this collection.
Much like the Pre-Raphaelite style, the "Black Magic" collection is rich in detail and intense color, featuring a matte palette of dark pastels directly drawn from the painting.
